PIPE VCI Disc
A novel product to contain and utilising Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) Powder for corrosion protection of high quality steels and Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) steel in large volume vessels and 12 meter pipe line joints during temporary storage and transportation prior to use.
Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor
VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) technology works on a molecular level to protect metal surfaces against corrosion and oxidation.
VCI vapour applies protective layer on metal surfaces. The corrosion inhibitor migrates out of the carrier product (powder, film or paper), and into the enclosed environment.
This environment is subsequently saturated with the corrosion inhibitor vapour and a thin molecular protection layer adheres to all metal surfaces.
PIPE VCI Disc
Polypropylene construction is very durable and robust to contain the VCI powder.
Breathable non-woven polyolefin membrane allows VCI vapour release into the enclosed volume to be protected.
3M VHB adhesive pads used for adhering the VCI Disc to pipe end cap allowing good dispersal of VCI vapour to the encased volume
PIPE VCI Disc
3 sizes of PIPE VCI DISC and each size caters for differing volumes by adjusting the quantity of VCI powder contained in the DISC.
For 12 meter pipes it is recommended to have 2x VCI Discs per pipe (one Disc at each pipe end).
Although focus of the PIPE VCI Disc is on protection of large volume pipes the principle of VCI protection and use of VCI Disc is scalable to corrosion protection of metal in sealed/closed storage i.e. gun cabinets and also electrical cabinets and junction boxes.
